About The Inn on the River Hotel in Pigeon Forge

The Inn on the River first opened its doors on March 28, 1991, as the Hampton Inn On The River. In January 2010, three successful Knoxville businessmen purchased the hotel in Pigeon Forge and chose to break away from the franchise to operate as an independent hotel. These entrepreneurs developed, and still operate, many first-class restaurants, retail centers, and marinas.

The Hampton Inn in Pigeon Forge Became The Inn on the River Hotel

Many names were discussed to give The Inn its own identity. First named the Riverside Inn, the Pigeon Forge hotel was themed to brand with the owners’ other businesses. After discovering Riverside Inn was a common name in the market, it was decided to rename the hotel in Pigeon Forge to give it its own identity. In June 2010, after adding a new managing partner with many years of successful hotel and marketing experience, the former Hampton Inn Pigeon Forge became The Inn on the River and is one of the only Pigeon Forge hotels on the river.

The Inn on the River is one of the few Pigeon Forge hotels with indoor pools on the Parkway. This Pigeon Forge hotel is centered in the heart of action-packed Pigeon Forge and is within walking distance of the best restaurants in town, a movie theater, several attractions, shopping, and even a CVS Pharmacy. This Pigeon Forge hotel is also located directly on the city trolley route and within just a few minutes’ drive of Dollywood, Dollywood’s Splash Country, Dolly Parton’s Stampede, The Old Mill, Tanger Outlet Center, Titanic Museum Attraction, the best live entertainment shows, golf, hiking, whitewater rafting, Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies, and the beautiful Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

The Inn on the River hotel in Pigeon Forge is an indoor corridor hotel with elevators, and it has three beautiful acres perfectly situated on the banks of the Little Pigeon River. This setting adjoins the popular hotel with a serene mountain stream, the home of many wildlife like ducks, geese, squirrels, cranes, and blue herons.

The new owners have been generous with guest improvements to the hotel, including a new lobby, registration desk, carpeting, and exterior and interior painting. In addition, they’ve added all new flat screen TVs, along with a new pool deck and indoor pool improvements. In efforts to be more environmentally green, The Inn on the River now features new energy efficient lighting, a new roof top, recycling system, energy efficient guest room heating and air conditioning units, additional landscaping, and EV chargers.

As a result, this Pigeon Forge hotel has seen an increased level of guest satisfaction. Throughout the years, The Inn on the River has been consistently ranked a premier hotel in Pigeon Forge by TripAdvisor, the number one source for objective guest travel reviews. It's also been voted the Best Hotel in Pigeon Forge for 5+ years in a row. Over time, you can expect to see many more improvements.
