Going out for ice cream is a vacation tradition! When you stay at the Inn on the River in Pigeon Forge, you will be minutes away from all of the city’s best creameries. To help you make the most of your getaway, we have put together a guide to the top four places to get ice cream in Pigeon Forge.
1. The Old Mill Creamery
The Old Mill Creamery is an institution in Pigeon Forge! This old-fashioned ice cream parlor serves homemade ice cream that guests can enjoy in a cone or as a sundae, shake, malt, or float. In addition to classic flavors, the Creamery offers a number of unique varieties, including Banana Puddin’, Salted Caramel, Oatmeal Cream Pie, and Brown Butter Black Walnut. Located in The Old Mill Square, the Creamery is the perfect place for a sweet treat after an hour or two of shopping.
2. Mel’s Classic Diner
Mel's Classic Diner is a 50s-style restaurant that is famous for its sundaes and other ice cream creations. If you’ve got a hearty appetite (or if you’re willing to share), we recommend Mel’s famous banana split, which you can order with three or six scoops of ice cream. Other popular desserts at Mel’s Diner include the milkshakes, malts, and root beer floats. You can also have a scoop of ice cream added to Mel’s homemade cobbler, hot fudge cake, or strawberry shortcake.

3. Mad Dog’s Creamery & Donuts
Mad Dog's Creamery & Donuts is another one of the best places for ice cream in Pigeon Forge. Visitors can enjoy 24 flavors of ice cream, along with funnel cakes, shaved ice, and donuts. All of the ice cream flavors are fantastic, but our favorite is the Smoky Mountain Fudge, which is a chocoholic’s dream! Scoops at Mad Dog’s Creamery are very generous, so a single serving may do the trick.
4. Poynor’s Pommes Frites
Poynor's Pommes Frites may be most well known for their delicious Belgian-style french fries, but this restaurant also offers a special ice cream dessert that you’re sure to love: spaghetti ice. This unique dish looks just like a plate of spaghetti, but it is actually made from ice cream! The “noodles” are made from pure vanilla bean ice cream, the “marinara sauce” is made from raspberry or chocolate, the “parmesan cheese” is made from grated white chocolate, and the “meatballs” are Ferrero Rocher chocolate balls. Trust us, you have to try this dessert!
