The Only Place for Mountain Biking in Gatlinburg

East Tennessee has one of the best terrains in the nation for mountain biking. The dirt is always “tacky”, so riders have maximum traction. This means that bike tires have a strong grip on the earth, allowing riders to go fast and make turns without losing control.

Despite these ideal conditions, mountain biking is not allowed in the Tennessee section of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Fortunately, CLIMB Works has awesome Gatlinburg mountain bike trails right across the street from the national park!

Trails Designed for Beginners and Experienced Riders

Whether you’ve never been mountain biking before, or you’re an expert rider, you’ll love CLIMB Works. Visitors are able to experience the trails at their own pace, so first-timers can take it slow, while experienced bikers can push themselves to the limit. The trails are self-guided, but CLIMB Works staff members are happy to accompany you upon request.

The CLIMB Works course has a number of unique features. This uphill journey makes the ride down even sweeter. Along the course, bikers will find plenty of berms, logs, rollers, and bridges to make your experience even more exciting.

The highlight of the CLIMB Works trail is “The Curliest”: a spiraling wooden course in the middle of the forest. This roller coaster-like ride is like nothing you’ve ever seen before.

Mountain Bike Rentals and Repair

Don’t have your own mountain bike? Not a problem! CLIMB Works offers full-suspension Trek bikes for rent. Staff members are on hand to adjust the bicycles for each rider’s unique height and weight. However, if you do have your own mountain bike, you’re more than welcome to use it. The CLIMB Works staff will even repair a bike you bring to the course for below market costs.

Incredible Ziplining in Gatlinburg

In addition to stellar mountain biking, CLIMB Works also offers superb ziplining. The canopy tour is specially designed so your feet don’t touch the ground for 2 and ½ hours straight!

The CLIMB Works course features 9 ziplines, 14 different adventures, and 3 canopy sky bridges. During your journey, you’ll enjoy breathtaking views of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park as you soar over trees, streams, and ravines.

Two of CLIMB Works’ experienced guides will be with you throughout every step of your zipline experience. The canopy tour at CLIMB Works is ideal for first-timers, because the ziplines do not require hand braking. The course has a special braking system built into it, so zipliners don’t have to worry about controlling their speed; they can simply sit back and enjoy the ride.

CLIMB Works Location and Hours

CLIMB Works is located at 155 Branam Hollow Road in Gatlinburg, TN 37738. The mountain bike trails and zipline courses are open year-round, but they are closed on Sundays.

Hours at CLIMB Works vary, but they typically open around 8:00 a.m. and close around 5 p.m. For the most up to date hours, guests should call ahead at 865-325-8116. Reservations are required for both ziplining and mountain biking.

Requirements For Mountain Biking and Ziplining

Kids at CLIMB Works need to be over 7 years old to participate in the daytime activities, and at least 12 years old to enjoy the Sunset/Night Zipline Canopy Tour. Guests must be under 300 pounds to mountain bike, under 270 pounds to zipline during the day, and under 240 pounds to zipline at night.

Pregnant women and people who have recurring injuries cannot bike or zipline. Be sure to dress for the occasion with comfortable clothes and closed-toed shoes. No backpacks are allowed for zipliners, and cameras must be secured with a strap. Try to avoid wearing baggy clothes, short shorts, and loose jewelry.

Mountain Bike and Zipline Prices

A half day (3 and ½ hours) of mountain biking costs $59 with a bike rental, or $25 when you Man riding a mountain bikebring your own bike.

A 3 hour zipline canopy tour costs $89 per person.

CLIMB Works also offers a combination package, where guests receive $15 or more off when they book a mountain bike trip and a canopy tour. This special discount can also be used when guests book a whitewater rafting trip with Smoky Mountain Outdoors along with one of the activities at CLIMB Works.
