Winterfest Pigeon Forge 2012 is the 23rd year annually for the event. For all those taking part, this means that more businesses are offering deals and discounts, and more tourists and visitors will be attracted. Winterfest starts November 6th, and over five million Christmas lights will be lit from then until the festival close on February 28th. Special events will be taking place throughout the festival such as Wildlife Week taking place January 12-19th. This is a whole week in which the surrounding wonderful outdoors and nature will be celebrated with educational outdoor treks, nature photography courses, special nature speakers, all concentrated on the nature of the Great Smoky Mountains. Another popular special Winterfest event is Saddle Up, which lasts from January 21-24th, 2013. Saddle Up features cowboy centered activities such as horseback riding, rodeo, cowboy dances, and western storytelling and poetry. In addition to the special events, ongoing events will include Storytelling (featuring traditional and mountain folk stories), live concerts and shows, the nation’s finest western and cowboy poetry readings, Trolley Light Tours, a Mountain Quiltfest, and so many more fun and exciting attractions.

Winterfest is a highly-anticipated festival that takes place in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee annually. There is always lots to do for everyone of all ages, kids and parents alike. The Winterfest Pigeon Forge kickoff on November 6th will take place featuring two classic Winterfest events – starting with the 2nd Annual Salute to Veterans Parade, where tribute will be paid to the men and women of our nation’s Armed Forces. The parade will start at 4:30 pm at the south end of the Parkway, and will end at 5:00 pm at Patriot Park. The second traditional kickoff event is the lighting of the more than five million Christmas lights of the Winterfest displays and signs, followed by an exciting and explosive fireworks show.
